How it works

One assistant. Four ways to master any wargame.

Stop flipping through 60 pages of rules in the middle of a turn. Ask, check, follow: for every game in the catalogue HQLM knows the rulebook, the errata and the tables — and it shows you where every answer comes from.

01Ask the AI in chat

Ask like you'd ask a friend who knows the rules by heart.

Type — or say — your question. HQLM searches the rulebook, the errata and every table of the game, then answers in plain words with the exact rule and page. No guessing: if it isn't in the rules, it tells you.

  • Every answer cites its sourceNumbered references: hover to read the passage, click to open the PDF at that page.
  • Rulebook, errata and tables togetherErrata are searched alongside the rules; charts and tables are transcribed so they can be read.
  • The game's own words, explainedTerms and rule numbers in the answer are underlined: hover for the definition, without leaving the chat.
  • Hands on the counters? Just talkAsk by voice: click the microphone and speak; two seconds of silence and the question is sent.
  1. AnalyzesYour question is understood and rewritten in the rulebook's own terms.
  2. SearchesRetrieves the information that best fits your request.
  3. RanksThe parts of the rulebook are ranked by semantic affinity to your request.
  4. AnswersThe text appears as you read it, in a very clear way.
  5. VerifiesEvery claim is linked to its source.
02Glossary

Every term of the game, one click from the exact line of the rulebook.

Type a word or a rule number: the terms appear as you write. Pick one and its definition opens; every term it mentions adds its own card below, as far as you want to go. Beside it, the rulebook scrolls to the exact point and lights it up.

  • Found as you typeTitles, synonyms, abbreviations and rule numbers, in your language and in the original: «ZOC», «zone of control» and «7.2» all find it.
  • One card after anotherClick a term inside a definition and its card is added below: your own path through the rules, without losing the thread.
  • The rulebook at the exact pointEach card opens the PDF at its heading, or at the first mention of the term, highlighted: the original text, right there.
  • No AI, no creditsIt works on the glossary of the game alone: instant, always the same, and it never spends AI Credits.
03VASSAL check

You moved. Was it legal? One click and you know why.

Playing on VASSAL? HQLM reads your last move straight from the game, draws it on the map and retraces it hex by hex against the rules. You get a verdict — and the reasoning behind it, with the rules cited.

  1. Make your move in VASSALAs always: drag the counter, even through several hexes.
  2. Press CheckLeave it blank for a full check, or write your doubt: “Did it break the ZOC of the unit in 0710?”
  3. The move is read and drawnThe whole path is rebuilt from the game log, with numbered arrows and the arrival circled.
  4. Every hex is retracedTerrain cost, rivers and hexsides, roads, enemy zones of control, stacking, movement allowance.
  5. The verdictLegal or not, why, and which rule — so next time you won't need to ask.
Ask about the board, tooIn the chat, name a hex or a counter: the assistant looks at the map and shows you what it sees.
Not only movementNo counter moved? It checks what changed: markers, steps, influence and other properties.
Your game is safeBefore the assistant touches anything on the map, the game is saved first.
04Turn sequence

The whole turn, step by step. Nothing left out.

Every phase of the turn becomes an interactive flowchart, written from the rules and the errata: each question you must ask yourself, each action, each effect — in order, with the rule number on every card. And the optional rules, exactly where they apply.

The turn at a glanceEach phase takes the room of the work it asks: you see at once where the turn gets long.

    7.1Question
    Does this unit attack?
Attacking is voluntary: only units adjacent to an enemy unit may attack, and each enemy hex is attacked once.
    Yes: it attacks
    No

Click an answer to go on. Tip: turn on the optional rules and attack: new cards appear, and the die roll gets an Engaged result that loops back for a re-roll.

It makes learning the rules easier, and it does it while you play.

The chat and the VASSAL check run on AI Credits or on your own API key. The turn sequence comes with the game, and the glossary uses no AI at all.
